Michelle Guianen, LPC
My approach to therapy is based on the belief that an individual's actions are driven by a combination of social forces and the thoughts and beliefs they hold about a particular situation. I apply techniques of cognitive-behavioral counseling, which empowers you to challenge your internal thinking process to motivate positive change in your life. The road to success in therapy will be through encouragement to explore your strengths as well as how you relate to others, to promote change and aid in achieving holistic wellness. Life can be difficult and learning how to accept and tolerate distressing emotions and events is essential.
I specialize in working with children, teens, and young women who struggle with impulse control, self-esteem, trauma, depression, anxiety, anger, and behavioral issues. I also specialize in working with families that are struggling to maintain healthy boundaries and positive communication.
I utilize play therapy as well, allowing children to communicate in a way that may be more comfortable for them.
